Their project, part of the NSF Convergence Accelerator’s (C-Accel) Quantum Technology Track, has developed the quantum interconnects required to establish kilometer distance quantum channels between remote quantum computing sites. The result is the MARQI network, a local area network that interconnects quantum computers at University of Maryland, the Army Research Laboratory, and Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), with major scalability. In addition, an MARQI Advisory Committee was created with those interested in advancing the project.
